One of the top 3 vacations I have experienced in my lifetime. It was opposite world for this Phoenician. Absolutely beautiful in August. The lodge is ran by the owners Birtch and Tiffany, who pay careful attention to the smallest details and needs of the guest who want a completely remote wilderness in comfort experience. Going back in 3 weeks and can't wait. Our week at the Kodiak Raspberry Island Remote Lodge absolutely exceeded our expectations. From the moment we stepped off the float plane to a warm greeting by Tiffany, Birch, Fisher, Sage, Dakota and several guests, to the farewell on our final morning, we could not have asked for a better week. Exceptional hospitality, breathtaking surroundings, fine food, wine and beer, fantastic fishing, and interesting, caring staff made our time at the lodge one of the best vacations we have ever taken. Our fishing excursions on their well equipped boats were not only productive (we brought home over 100 pounds of fish from three fishing days), but the surroundings could not be beat. On one occasion we were pulling 40-50 pound Halibut into the boat with 6 Fin Whales cruising by us with the ever present glacier covered peaks in the background. Disney couldn’t have done it better! We hated to leave and can’t wait to go back. I've been to KRIRL twice now. Both trips were excellent and I'm planning to go back again. Birch, Tiffany and their staff were all focused on making our vacation delightful. I've been there with hard core fishermen/women and with someone who just hiked and kayaked; all had a great time. One trip there was a woman along who had never been fishing before. She caught her first salmon and halibut and was very happy with her trip. If you're looking for a remote lodge, you won't go wrong with KRIRL. I went to Raspberry Island with my family when I was younger. It was one of the most amazing trips and experiences I have ever had. The fishing was amazing. We caught close to 500lbs of Salmon and 350lbs of Halibut. Birch is a great fishing guide and I loved every second of it. I was there when his parents were still running the lodge. I hope to return with my girlfriend one day to experience it all again. Overall a the best place to go in Alaska! It is a must do trip once in your lifetime. AWESOME! Just retruned from a four day waterfowl hunting trip at Raspberrry Island Lodge and I was impressed. Impressed with the effort made and the quality of the facility. The duck hunting was fine but spotty. I still need to work out the techniques and timing of the waterfowl excursion. However, Birch made every effort to put me where I needed to be. The Lodge and the hospitality was exceptional and the food too good for one trying to be careful with my belt size. Met Birch, Tiffany, Fisher and Sage and they were such an impressive family. Fisher at 8 knows more than some adults on how to run a boat and Sage is even younger and was the best hostess/server you could imagine. The guests were a pleasure to get to meet and the host and hostess were the best. I recommend it for anyone wanting a real remote Kodiak Island experience whether they want to sight see or hunt deer, elk or waterfowl.
