El Chicano truly serves up great Mexican food, and you wouldn't expect to find this in Kodiak. Trust me. It's good. But, the bathrooms are filthy, and the place is run down, overall. It makes me wonder if they practice good sanitation in the kitchen. Food was subpar service was ok. Food came really quick though. Still good food in the bar area. Great food, fair price. Service is slightly slow, though I it seemed to be not enough servers, as the ones there were working hard. I've been working here in Kodiak a few weeks. Eaten at El Chicano at least six or seven times. Food is marignal, but ok. Service somewhat passable. Tonight I wanted a cup if decafe coffee and desert after dinner. The server told me no, she can't. That if she makes a pot of coffee for one person she gets in trouble. No problem, I'll be working in Kodiak a while longer but not eating here again.
